The only thing that would put Skyrim over the top on Inquisition for me is modding. DAI has more of what I want in an RPG so I think it's better than Skyrim. They share exploration similarities but that's about it. Truth is I love both games, and they both have a lot going for them, however, for me, I always find myself being ever so slightly drawn back to Skyrim more than da:i. I think overall I prefer da:i combat but can't help but feel very locked in with the class system, Skyrim offers a very robust class system in that regards even without mods, if you include mods, well, thats a whole other ball game. Combat wise, its a tough one for me, dragonage combat looks far flashier, and feels far cooler if you dont use tactical, however, most my playthroughs were on harder difficulties and so the tac mode became an absolute must have, which both slowed down the combat and also made it feel far less flashy to me. Skyrim still feels larger to me but I think this has to do with it being a consistent open world as opposed to 12? (I think its 12)large zones that are not not directly connected in da:i. The main story in inquisition far exceeds that of skyrim imho, however,if you take away all the war table 'missions' which in heinsight aren't actual missions at alll, then there is far more to do in skyrim.

My reasoning, and opinion on this begins with character development, Skyrim even without mods has a far greater character development systemwith a ton more perks and possibilities. Initially, after having played both games, I DID think Inquisition was better, but truth is,I got caught up in the eye candy and looking objectively upon both, I have to revoke my initial thought and say that Skyrim is still, overall the better game.

People used to compare The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Dragon Age: Origins too, also seen people compare Mass Effect and Fallout series lol. TES is more of "do what you want when you want" type of game. The Elder Scrolls is more of a solo hero style of combat though you can have a follower to fight along side with you, it is not really styled as a party based combat game.
Though it isn't as open as TES games, you still can travel to locations and do quests for people like a lot of RPG's do.
It's quite hard to compare everything though.īut don't expect it to be like The Elder Scrolls it is not the same at all, you pick your class and you have a party of 4, they all have abilities of their own with strengths and weaknesses to certain enemies, you can be more strategic in this game too and it has a tactical camera so you can pause and play. I will say for story Dragon Age has better writing, Bioware focuses more on the story. Haven't played much of Inquisition but liking it so far but i have played the previous Dragon Age games.
